 Positions In the game of baseball there are total of nine positions on the diamond. Positions that are on the field are numbered as well. One of main positions  every one knows is the pitcher. Pitcher, the pitcher is a crucial player responsible for delivering the ball to the batter from the pitcher's mound with the objective of striking out the batter, inducing them to make contact for outs, or preventing baserunners from advancing.
